Originally commissioned by CTA in 2014 to beautify the platform at the Western Blue Line Station, Soto and Sullivan presented 2 different proposals before settling on sculptural seating for the plaza on the southeast corner. The shapes directly relate to Soto’s Graft series/.

Inspired equally by building block toys and high rise architecture, the Kindred Modular Shelving System can be arranged in myriad ways, with either 48” and 64” wide bases. Perfectly sized to hold LPs, books, and curios the Kindred utilizes clever but simple engineering and beautiful detailing. Shown here in Classic Walnut and Bleached Maple.

NWW was excited to work with artist Paola Cabal and The Arts Club of Chicago to realize this site-specific large outdoor sculpture installed in their Garden through the winter of 2020 and into the spring of 2021. This free-standing sculpture, illuminated from within after dark, reflects the Arts Club library and the iconic building that houses it.

Part of Soto’s ongoing Graft series, this sculpture is comprised of custom formed, CNC carved MDF panels that interlock around a structural column. Integrated lighting creates an interior glow.
